This guide will leave you through connecting your Door / Window Sensor 7 to Hubitat which will feature these functions for either ZWA018 or ZWA019: 


Water Sensor 7 Gen7 (ZWA018)

Steps to pair Water Sensor 7 to Hubitat.

  1. Open your Hubitat interface
  2. Click on Devices
  3. Click on Discover Devices
  4. Click on Z-Wave
  5. Click on Start Z-Wave Inclusion
  6. Remove the cover of your Water Sensor 7

     
  7. Now tap the small black tamper switch 3x quickly on Door/Window Sensor 7.



  8. A device box should appear almost immediately, give it about 20 seconds to initialize, feel free to name your device and save this.
  9. Now go to "Devices"
  10. Click on "Save Device"




How to exclude Water Sensor 7 from Hubitat .

  1. Open your Hubitat interface
  2. Click on Devices
  3. Click on Discover Devices
  4. Click on Z-Wave
  5. Click on Start Z-Wave Exclusion
  6. Remove the cover of your Water Sensor 7

     
  7. Now tap the small black tamper switch 3x quickly on Water Sensor 7.



  8. Your Hubitat should tell you if it excluded an unknown device or a specific sensor if it was paired properly previously.




Troubleshooting


Having issues pairing your device?

  • Move your Sensor within 4 - 10 ft of your Hubitat Z-Wave network.
  • Remove power from Water Sensor 7 for 1 minute, then power it up again.
  • Try factory resetting or excluding your Water Sensor 7.
    • Exclude first in case the device actually paired to Hubitat otherwise it will leave a phantom device in your network that will be difficult to remove.
    • Perform a manual factory reset
      1. Remove the cover of your Water Sensor 7
      2. Press and hold the tamper switch for 5 seconds until the red LED blinks.
      3. Quickly release the tamper switch, and then immediately press and hold again
        • If successful, the LED will display a solid green LED.


Having issues with device not appearing properly?

  • Change the device type to the correct device driver following these steps:
    1. On hubitat, click on "Devices"
    2. Find Water Sensor 7 as you've named it and click on it.
    3. Under "Device Information" look for "Type" and change this to:
      1. If Water Sensor 7 (ZWA018), change it to "Generic Z-Wave Water Sensor"
      2. If Water Sensor 7 Pro (ZWA019), change it to "Aeotec Water Sensor PRO 7"
    4. Then click on "Save Device"
    5. The values will for the sensor will start to appear as they are triggered. Few items to do to force battery and water values to appear:
      1. Tap the tamper switch once, this will display battery.
      2. Place the probes into water, then remove them, this will display water.
      3. For Water Sensor 7 Pro (ZWA019), wait up to 1 hour and temperature and humidity should appear on its own.
