When paired with Aeotec Smart Home Hub and SmartThings software that the hub uses, Smart Switch 7 user guide will offer the following features:


  • On/off Switch
  • Power meter (W)
  • Energy consumption (kWh)




Steps to connect Smart Switch 7 to Aeotec Smart Home Hub (SmartThings).

  1. Open SmartThings Connect
  2. Select "+" located at the top right corner (second icon from the right)
  3. Select "Add Device".
  4. Select "Scan Nearby"
  5. Now tap the Action Button on Smart Switch 7.
  6. (If Secure pairing available) Scan the QR code or choose to enter the DSK code (pin code located under the QR barcode)
  7. Now wait about a minute and your device should show up as "Aeotec Outlet", feel free to rename this.




Control your Smart Switch 7.


You can control Smart Switch 7 from your SmartThings interface using either (1) Dashboard button, (2) Device page, or (3) automation.


Control from dashboard:

  1. Scroll down to your Smart Switch 7.
  2. Tap the small circular button in the Smart Switch 7 widget. This will turn your switch on or off.



Control from device page:

  1. Scroll down to your Smart Switch 7.
  2. Tap the main body of the Smart Switch 7 Widget.
  3. You will have these controls.
    • On/Off toggle - turns your switch on or off.
    • Timer - turns your switch on or off depending on the timer set.
    • Power on - turns your switch on at a specific time or period of time.
    • Power off - turns your switch off at a specific time or period of time.
    • Power meter - shows the immediate power use when switch is on. This is updated every 5 minutes.
    • Energy consumption - shows the total amount of power used over time. This is updated every 5 minutes.



Automate it:

  1. Tap Routines in the tab menu on the bottom. 
  2. Tap +.
  3. Under IF, tap +, then choose what you want to control your Smart Switch 7. It can be a sensor, or another smart switch in your network.
  4. Under THEN, tap +.
  5. Tap Control Sevices.
  6. Select your Smart Switch 7.
  7. Tap Next.
  8. Choose what you want the Smart Switch 7 to do:
    1. Turn on or turn off (this will toggle the reverse state, if Smart Switch 7 is on, then it'll turn off as an example).
    2. Turn ON
    3. Turn OFF
    4. Delay this action
    5. Auto turn off
  9. Tap Save.
  10. Then tap Save again.




Automate with Smart Switch 7.


You may use any of the sensors on this device to control lighting, switches, dimmers, or other connected devices in your Smart Home Hub.

  1. Tap Routines in the menu below. 
  2. Tap +.
  3. Under IF, tap +.
  4. Tap Device status.
  5. Tap on your Smart Switch 7.
  6. Select one of the available options to be used in an automation:
    • On or off
      • Any time your Smart Switch 7 changes state, then the automation will run.
    • On
      • If your Smart Switch 7 turns on, then the automation will run.
    • Off
      • If your Smart Switch 7 turns off, then the automation will run.
    • Power meter
      • condition will depend on Watt value of your Smart Switch 7.
    • Energy Consumption
      • condition will depend on kWh value of your Smart Switch 7.
  7. Tap Done.
  8. Determine if you want it to trigger after a certain amount of time in that state using "Stays this status for how long?"
    • If enabled, enter 1, 5, or 10 minutes, or a customized time frame.
  9. Tap Save.
  10. Tap + under Then.
  11. Select what you want this automation to do based on the condition you set from the Smart Switch.




How to remove Smart Switch 7 from Aeotec Smart Home Hub (SmartThings).


These steps can be performed even if Smart Switch 7 are not yet paired to your Aeotec Smart Home Hub.

  1. Open SmartThings
  2. Find your hub in the device list, then select it
  3. Tap More Options (3 dot icon) located at the top right corner.
  4. Tap Settings
  5. Tap Z-Wave Utilities
  6. Tap General Exclusion
  7. Now tap the Action Button twice within 1 second on Smart Switch 7 - LED on Smart Switch 7 should light up purple.
  8. SmartThings should confirm that it has removed a device.



Troubleshooting


1. Having issues pairing your device?

  • Move your Sensor within 4 - 10 ft of your Aeotec Smart Home Hub, its possible that it is too far.
  • Remove power from Aeotec Smart Home Hub for 6 minutes, then power it up again.
  • Remove power from Smart Switch 7 for 1 minute, then power it up again.
  • Try factory resetting or excluding your Smart Switch 7.
    • Exclude first in case the device actually paired to your hub otherwise it will leave a phantom device in your network that will be difficult to remove.
    • Perform a manual factory reset
      1. Remove the cover of your MultiSensor 7
      2. Press and hold the Action Button for 20 seconds on Smart Switch 7.
      3. If successful, the LED should fade its LED blue in and outto indicate it is ready to be paired.


2. MultiSensor 7 showing up as a generic device?

  • Check if SmartThings picked up all of the correct information, follow the below steps to check:

    3. Click on the 3 dot icon (top right)
    4. Click Advanced User
    5. Click Devices
    6. Click on the name of your Device
      • If Manufacturer Code shows 0000-0000-0000 then this sensor will need to be excluded/removed, and then paired again.
